\nand both are surely dying.
\nThe slug leaves a glistening trail
\nas evidence of his trying
\nto get somewhere,
\nsomewhere over there,
\nwhere the way’s not slick with crying.
\nThere’s salt in tears,
\nno hope in fears\u00e2\u20ac\u201dof this
\nthere’s no denying,
\nuntil finally bliss
\nis one last kiss\u00e2\u20ac\u201d
\ndeath-defying!
\nAfter that, who knows?
\nThe going slows
\nfor a sluggish rhymer crying.
\nThe meter pumps a salty sea
\nlike the one that pumps inside,
\nfurther proof, should it be needed,
